Probably the most important step is to clearly understand what you need to

'do' to it, which ... correct me if I'm wrong ... you're still not clear on.

I can see two things you might be asked to do to it: Factor it, or evaluate it.

-- Factor it: 3 (x - 3) .

-- Evaluate it (figure out what number it is):

That depends on what 'x' is. As soon as you find out what 'x' is, triple that number,

subtract 9 from the result, and you'll have the value of (3x - 9).
