Technically, there is no answer; due to the way a jet works, it's not possible to use one in space.

If you mean "in a spacecraft travelling at the same speed as a typical commercial jet", then let's call that about 1000 km/h (a bit on the fast side; most commercial airliners have a cruising speed slightly lower than that). It's 150 million kilometers from the Earth to the Sun, so that's 150,000 hours, or a little over 17 years.

The average speed of a large commercial jet airliner is about 500 mph. The average distance to the Sun is 93 million miles.

93,000,000 mi / 500 mi per hour = 186,000 hours or 7750 days or approx 21 years and 3 months.

Yet light from the Sun only takes 8 minutes to reach Earth. Cool huh?
