It depends on which gallon you are converting from (hence the problem with non-metric units!). 1 US Gallon = 3.785 litres 1 Imperial Gallon = 4.55 litres Thus there are 12.62 1.5 litres in 5 US Gallons but 15.17 1.5 litres in 5 Gallons (Imperial)
