kg is a unit of mass (weight).

It's like asking how many grapes (volume) do you get for a pound (weight). Depends on how big (volume) the grapes are right?


Below is an example of a common misunderstanding. This only applies to water, where 1 mL = 1g. Don't believe it? Try and see how much 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of syrup, and 1 cup of water weigh.

4 cups = 1000g

1000g = 1 kilogram

Ergo, there are 4 cups in a kilogram.
