There are 10 meters in a decameter. The prefix deca- signifies a factor of ten. Don't confuse decameter with the decimeter, which is a tenth of a meter. Both are very rarely used. Much more common are e.g. centimeters (hundredths of meters, 1cm ~ 0.39 inches) or kilometers (a thousand meters, 1km ~ .62 miles).
