Although 10 feet is a common estimate for a storey (may also be spelled story) height, every building is unique and storey heights can vary widely.

A storey describes the distance between two levels of a structure and can vary depending on the building, it's function, etc. Most homes have story heights of 9-10 feet. Commercial buildings, such as office buildings or retail stores, can have storey heights ranging from 10-15 feet or more. Big-box stores, such as Walmart or Home Depot, have storey heights of 20-25 feet.

The best way to estimate a storey height is to measure the height from floor to ceiling and then add 12 to 15 inches for a residence or 2 to 3 feet for commercial space. An alternative way to measure a storey height is to measure the distance between stair landings or windows of the same size on different floors.

The average height for a standard floor in a home is 8', depending on the requirements of building codes and contractor preference's there well be some definite space between each level as well. Calling it 10" floor most home will also have attic in it that you can stand straight up somewhere. So ground level to the top of the highest peak of your roof will probably be closer to 38' or 40'.

The average height per storey is 10 feet, thus 30 feet for 3.
It varies based on the architecture and type of roof used. Typically a story is about eight to ten feet. It would be safe to say that a 3 story building would be at least 25 feet tall, and could easily be closer to 40 feet at the peak of the roof.

How tall 3 stores is in feet is difficult to say. It would depend on how tall one story is. Not all buildings use the same standard measure. Each would have its own height. As a rule it would be ten feet or more per story.
