Why are gasoline prices listed to three decimal places?
Although this is a marketing ploy today, ($3.599 just looks
cheaper than $3.60 even though it is a miniscule amount), many,
many years ago, when gasolone was 15 cents per gallon or so, a
tenth of a penny per gallon was a meaningful difference (15.4 cents
per gallon vs. 15.5 cents epr gallon), so a price per gallon down
to a tenth of a cent made sense.
