It is worth a penny
1949 Lincoln cents are common among collectors. As of 04/2009 retail prices range from a nickel for a worn coin to about 20 cents for one that's almost like new. FWIW "S" is not a 'type', it's a mint mark indicating that the coin was minted in San Francisco.
San Francisco didn't mint any cents for circulation in 1963. If your coin has no mint mark or a D, it's worth a penny. If it's another date, please check again and post a new question.
It depends. A 1909 S VDB may be worth over a thousand dollars but a "regular" 1910 may only be worth $.50
a 1943 D penny is worth 1.7 million dollars

1943 was the only year cents were minted in steel. If you have a silver-color 1949 cent it's been plated or otherwise altered. That makes it an altered coin worth only face value. But don't shed any tears; even in almost-uncirculated condition an unaltered 1949-S cent is worth less than a quarter.
2009 pennies were made in mass productions. Currently a 2009 penny is only worth a penny unless it is a proof. If it is a proof it will have the mintmark "S" below the date.
