What is the minimum required windows for a kitchen?

I can say with some certainty, that a window in a kitchen is not required for easement, (the ability to escape a space in the event of fire). That being said, I would strongly suggest having a window in a kitchen for additional ventilation. My experience is that most kitchen windows are 2/8 x 3/0, (32" x 36"; the first dimension being the width and the other the height). This would appear to be a standard size for this region for homes built from the mid-forties into the nineties. You will want to check with your local fire code for any special requirements for ventilation.
