A positive number is always greater than a negative number.
1 is greater than -1 by 2.
Think of how when a spaceship takes off the countdown to launch goes from 10 down to 1 and then "lift off". "Lift off" represents 0. If we wanted to keep counting down from 0 we would have to use minus numbers (e.g. -1, -2, -3 etc...). So minus numbers are less than positive ones!
3.29 is greater than 1.
1-4 equal less than and greater than = -3
If the denominator is positive and the numerator is less than the denominator then the fraction is less than 1. If the denominator is positive and the numerator is greater than the denominator then the fraction is greater than 1.
