Greater than.

A positive number is always greater than a negative number.

1 is greater than -1 by 2.

Think of how when a spaceship takes off the countdown to launch goes from 10 down to 1 and then "lift off". "Lift off" represents 0. If we wanted to keep counting down from 0 we would have to use minus numbers (e.g. -1, -2, -3 etc...). So minus numbers are less than positive ones!
