DEFINITELY Composite.

Reason ; it is an even number, which means it will divide by '2' , hence it is composite. It is compoed by 2 x 21 = 42 or 3 x 14 = 42 or 6 x 7 = 42

NB ANY EVEN Number, except '2', is composite, there by NOT a Prime number.

42 is a composite number because it is divisible by 6. A prime number has only 2 factors which are 1 and itself. Composite numbers are everything else except 1, 2, and 0. 1, 2, and 0 have a different name.
