The importance of sound in our lives is more important than we think. Sound is a form of energy that changes through matter. Without matter there is no sound propagation. The sound propagates in the form of waves through the air. The waves have frequency and wavelengths as measurable parameters. Based on these two types of parameters the sound quality will vary.
Not only is sound important for us humans, but also for animals. We depend on sound for communication, mostly animals do in this case. Humans do depend on communication as well but through a spoken language in which not every human is able to do so. Some communications for us will be through body language, if needed. We communicate by using our ears to hear every sound, whether we are listening to auditory words, expressive tones, sighs etc. Sound is also a signaling system whether it be for notifying or warning us. We have cell phones that ring to alert us of calls and messages. Trains that give a horn sound to warn people around that a train is making its way through. As the same with any vehicle such as a car that allows you to honk in order to warn people maybe even scare them. Without sound we wouldn’t be able to talk to people on the phone like we do today. The phone receives sound waves from the person at the mouth piece and continues through a process in order to receive that sound on the other end. The use of sound has advanced so much over time that the fact that we can even hear a baby’s heart beat in the womb is just amazing. And most importantly without sound we wouldn’t have music. We all know how much music plays a role in our lives as well. It communicates messages in many different ways, soothes the mind and also helps relieve stress from our everyday lives. It is a sound that is in a controlled and tuned type of matter, relying on frequency and pitch of the voice.

Sound energy affects our daily life in various ways. It enables us to communicate with others through speech and listen to music or other forms of entertainment. Additionally, sound energy serves as a warning signal for potential danger, such as a siren indicating an emergency. Ultimately, sound energy plays a crucial role in enhancing our overall quality of life.
An example of diffraction of sound in daily life is when you can still hear music coming from a room even when the door is closed. The sound waves diffract around the edges of the door, allowing the sound to reach your ears.
