You CAN'T calculate the perimeter of a rectangle, knowing only its diagonal. You do need some additional information about the rectangle - such as its width, or its length, or perhaps the length/width ratio.

How do you know the perimeter of a square or a rectangle?

To figure that out, you must multiply the width and length 2x since in a square or a rectangle is 2 width and 2 length. and when you must mutiplied it, the answer to both length and width, you must add and that is how you figure out the perimeter of a square or a rectangle. This is for 5th graders who is struggling on geometrey. I'm a perfect A+ student in 5th grade that posted the answer to this. I hope you like it and recomend it!^^ Please recomend it...:)

If the perimeter is 280 ft what is rectangle with an area between 100 and 150 ft?

If been working on this for my daughters 4th grade homework for the last couple hours. I think the question is mistyped. It's impossible for that to work because for a rectangle to have a perimeter of 280ft it's area would be in the 1000's ft squared. Example: perimeter 140ft + 140ft + 20ft + 20 ft=280 ft Area 140ft * 20ft = 2800ft squared. I've tried so may other combinations without any success and don't think it's possible.

Is area 2 times the perimeter?

Well if... SORT OF.. for example you have a 2 by 3 for a triangle it would be A=base times height divide by 2 then do = 2 times 3 divide by 2 = 6 divide by 2 = 3units squared. For a rectangle its A=base time height A=2 times 3 A=6units squared. For perimeter it would be P=2(2+3) then P=2(5) P=10units for a rectangle but im not sure about triangles yet.Im in the 6th grade and we are learning all about it.
