And when all senses are directed inward and 'centered' as opposed to outward it is called "unity" and means whole-ness or holy-ness. Any slight deviation from True center is called "missing the mark" another word for "sin". The greater the deviation from the one True center the greater pain from suffering. This is called "self-awareness". Higher self-awareness means less suffering.
It is not even true that we have 5 senses. It was a number hypothesised by philosophers. However it leaves out many other senses such as sense of balance, sense of nausea etc. The actual number is somewhat debated, though thought to be at least 11. I doubt the correct number of senses a shark has is less than 11 however it is likely more of an unknown than the number of senses humans have.
The difference is that qualitative is wade with 1 of your 5 senses and the other one which is quantitative is an observation involving numbers.
