For any non-zero whole numbers, there are ALWAYS multiples that are the same. That's the whole point in finding the least common multiple! For example, simply by multiplying the two numbers, you get a common multiple. However, there is no guarantee that it will be the LEAST common multiple.

On the other hand, writing down lots of multiples and looking for common multiples is not very efficient, except perhaps for very low numbers. A better method is to factor each of the numbers into prime factors, then use any prime factor that appears in one or more of the numbers for your result. Use the highest power. For example, if one number has a factor of 2 to the power 3, and the other has 2 to the power 2, use 2 to the power 3. Multiplying all those prime factors together gives you the least common multiple.

How do you find the LCM of 36 and 90?

By making a table and finding the first instance when they both have the same multiple. The LCM is 180.

How can you find the second common multiples of two numbers from the first?

To find the second common multiple of two numbers, you first need to identify the least common multiple (LCM) of the two numbers. The LCM is the smallest number that is a multiple of both numbers. Once you have the LCM, you can then find the second common multiple by adding the LCM to the LCM itself. This will give you the second common multiple of the two numbers.

What is the LCM of x and y if y is the multiple of x?

The Least Common Multiple (LCM) of two numbers is the smallest number that is a multiple of both numbers. If y is a multiple of x, then the LCM of x and y is simply y. This is because y is already a multiple of x, so the LCM will be the same as y.

What is the least common multiple of 490?

The least common multiple (LCM) is often also called the lowest common multiple or smallest common multiple. Keep in mind that these different terms all refer to the same thing: the smallest positive integer which is a multiple of two or more numbers.Since 495 is a single number, you could say that it shares all of its multiples with itself. So the least multiple of 495 is 495.
