In math, Equivalence means exactly equal to. This is different from equals in some subjects because there are sometimes multiple forms of equality. For example, in Geometry and Trigonometry, two triangles could be considered equal if they share all the same angles, but are of different sizes. These triangles would be called similar triangles. Whereas, equivalent triangles must be identical both in shape and size.
