  • y=5x-1 gives a line parallel to it.
  • In fact there is a whole series of parallel lines generated by using -1, -2, -3 etc in that equation. So y=5x-c gives a series of lines, all parallel, formed by using all the different value for c, which is called a parameter. All the lines have a slope of 5.
  • The equation y = 5x -2 is in the general form of y = mx +c ; where m is the slope and c is the intersection length with y axis. Accordingly, any number for c generates a line parallel to y = 5x -1.
