Atman is nothing but the Spirit or Soul. It is the life energy that comes to us when we are conceived and departs at death. It is that power in a human being that gives life, energy to the hardware, our body and the software, the mind. It gives us the energy to live, to walk, to talk. When the Soul or Atman departs, there is death, there is no breath. The body decomposes and returns to dust, the mind disappears, it doesn't exist. Whenever we die, the body dies but the ME the Mind and Ego is reborn in a new body based on Karma or our past actions. However if we realize that the ME, the Mind and Ego doesn't exist, it's an illusion born out of ignorance, if we realize we are the Atman, the Spirit, or the Soul then at death, we attain Moksha or Liberation from the cycle of rebirth. We are free from coming back to earth.
Atman is actually the soul itself, Moksha is what your looking fot here
In Hinduism, atman is the individual soul or essence of a person, believed to be eternal and unchanging. It is the innermost self, distinct from the physical body and mind, and is considered to be part of Brahman, the ultimate reality in the universe. Understanding the atman is essential in achieving spiritual liberation or moksha.
Hinduism believes in the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth (samsara), where the soul (atman) reincarnates into different bodies based on karma until it achieves liberation (moksha) from this cycle
The Brahman is the original, spirit of the world, it is effectively the creator. The Atman is basically our soul, and it is immortal. The atman is part of the Brahman, that has 'split' from the Brahman, and has been trapped inside our bodies. It is the main focus of Hinduism to release the Atman back into the Brahman, in a process known as Moksha.
