okay. you have 1 1/2 cups. you need to divide by two. first you have to find the improper fraction of 1 1/2.

first you multiply denominator (2) and whole number (1). then you add that number to the numerator (1). 2x1=2+1=3

3 is your numerator and your denominator (2) stays the same. new fraction= 3/2.

next your problem is 3/2 divided by 2/1 (2/1 equals 2)

you're not going to divide, you're going to multiply. the second fraction (2/1) will need to be flipped. your new problem = 3/2 x 1/2

multiply the numerators together to get the numerator and the denominators together to get the denominator.

When you halve a quatity in a division, it's equivalent to doubling the divider. In other words, one half is written as 1/2, and one quarter is 1/4. So half of a quarter cup would be one-eighths of a cup (1/8).
