The perpendicular line's slope will be the negative inverse, and the equation will be of the form y = - x/2 (+/- b) or y = -1/2 x (+/- b).

A line with the equation [ y = 2x plus or minus anything ] is parallel to [ y = 2x - 4 ]. In general this is of the form y=mx+b where m is the slope and b the intercept. If the sign of the slope is changed and it's replaced with its reciprocal, 2x becomes -x/2, the line is perpendicular to the original line. Thus y=2x-4 is perpendicular to y=-x/2 - 4.
