The absolute value of a number is positive, so the range is always a positive real number. You are correct. The domain, that is the value before you take the absolute value, is all real numbers, but the range is always positive.

Somebody may have confused "domain" and "range". The DOMAIN is all real numbers, since the function is defined for all real numbers; the RANGE is the non-negative numbers (positive numbers, and zero), since that's the only result you can get if you apply this function.

What negative numbers are less than positive numbers. Does this mean that the absolute value of a negative number must be less than the absolute value of a positive number Explain?

No it is not true. The absolute value of a number is simply the value of the number with a positive sign.

Explain Why the product of two nonzero absolute values is always a positive number?

An absolute value must be greater or equal to zero. If the absolute value is known to be nonzero then it must be greater than zero: that is, it must be positive. The product of two (or more) positive numbers must be positive.

A teacher wrote two numbers on the board negative 10 and positive 7 On the lines below explain which number has the larger absolute value and why?

Negative 10 because the absolute value of a number is the positive and negative form of that number. For example: The absolute value of 9 is positive 9 and negative 9. Therefore, it would be greater than the absolute value of any number below it.
