There are two equivalent ways:
1. Find the highest common factor (HCF) of the numerator (top) and denominator (bottom) of the fraction. If it is 1, the fraction is already in its lowest terms. If not, divided both, numerator and denominator, by the HCF. The fraction is now in its lowest form.
2. Find any common factor of the numerator (top) and denominator (bottom) of the fraction. If the only common factor is 1, the fraction is already in its lowest terms. If not, divided both, numerator and denominator, by the HCF. Repeat the process until the only common factor is 1. The fraction is then in its lowest form.
It is: 0.006 = 6/1000 = 3/500 in its lowest terms
44% = 44/100 Reduced to its lowest terms, it is 11/25
11/100
.45 = 9/20
627/1000
51/66 = 17/22 in its lowest terms by dividing the numerator and the denominator by 3 which is their HCF
0.565 as a fraction is 565/1000 and it is 113/200 in its lowest terms
Find the highest common factor of the numerator and the denominator and divide the factor into both of them to change the fraction into its lowest terms.
1 and 3/5
it is: 0.42 = 21/50 as a fraction in its lowest terms
4 and 24/25
7.62 = 381/50 in its lowest terms
