Not sure exactly what the equation is; answers.com eliminates some symbols.However, if you have a line of the form:

y = mx + b

Then "m" is the slope (and "b" is the y-intercept).

For example, in the equation:

y = -5x + 3

-5 is the slope, and +3 is the y-intercept.
