the factors of 6 are 1, 2, 3, and 6.

6 + 2 = 8

some people might not consider 1 and 6 to be factors of 6. however, the definition of a factor is "any whole number that can be divided into a number n, in which the quotient is another whole number" (6 would be n in this case)
