A degree is an angular measure and cannot be measured in millimetres. A 1 degree rise can be interpreted as a ratio of a rise (in millimetres) per a distance of horizontal displacement.
The word "rise" is in the King James Version of the Bible 142 times. It is in 140 verses.
Pick any two points. If possible, find ones that coincide with grid points. Label then A and B. It does not matter which way round you label them but the rest of this depends on them being treated in the same order.Calculate the rise: the vertical distance from A to B, as measured on the vertical axis.Calculate the run: the horizontal distance from A to B, as measured on thehorizontalaxis.Divide the rise by the run.
The rise of a step should be around 7". When computing the number of rise units, a carpenter will divide the total rise by the number 7. This will give a starting point in determining the number of individual step risers.

Rise is the vertical distance between the two points on the graph. This is measured using the Y axis.
An increase in sound intensity is known as a rise or an increase in volume, while a decrease is referred to as a fall or decrease in volume. Sound intensity is measured in decibels (dB), with a higher number indicating a louder sound and a lower number indicating a quieter sound. This rise and fall in sound intensity can affect our perception of sound and its impact on our ears.

Time was measured by the "rise" and "fall" (the arc) of the sun. Eventually, sundials were used. Only in the past several hundred years have timepieces been made by humans for human use.

The growth of a population is also measured by the number of immigrants who come into a country. But for it to be completely accurate you would have to also look at the death rates, to see if there has been a rise in a sort of ailment. Say for example that drunk driving fatalities has been on the rise over the past couple years you would want to add that into your populations growth. So with immigration numbers, any significant rise or fall in deaths and birth rates you would have a better picture of a populations growth.
