Why do Indians and Pakistanis put a comma between the ten-thousands and the hundred-thousands instead of between the hundred-thousands and millions?

In the international numbering system, you have a new name for every three digits, hence the comma acts as a separator at this point. As a result, the placement of the comma aids in reading the number properly.
