∙ 7y agoI have not seen a bathroom light with a cord used to turn it on and off since the 1950's. Electrical code regulations have required a wall switch to be in place to operate the light fixture from that date on. It might have been a previous owner that did this installation by cutting into another circuit. If you have this type of condition it should be rectified by having a qualified and certified electrician install a proper wall switch for your safety and peace of mind.
