What is an easy way to memorize the books of the Bible in order?

We used to sing it in Sunday School and the problem becomes how to forget the books of The Bible. If you do not know how we used to sing it, then just make a melody out of the books of the Bible. Practice them in groups of 8 or so. Once you have the first one memorized, do the second one. Then practice saying them both together. Keep doing this until you have them all the way to Revelation. This is how you memorize them, but to keep them in your memory, you will have to keep practicing. One way to practice them is to write each book on a little piece of paper. Mix them up, and then time yourself to see how fast you can put them all in the right order. You can also make up little sayings for ones you're having trouble with. For example, I use Go Eat PopCorn for Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians.

I doubt if anyone could really memorise all the books of the Bible, in their entirety. The most reasonable expectation is to know the major themes of the more important books.

An attempt to memorise the books of the Bible would mean memory by rote, and would not improve understanding. Even focusing on memorising just the names of the books of the Bible would have arguable benefit, except perhaps to impress others, hardly an act of humility. Just try to learn a few passages that you feel could be important in your life, rather than aiming for heroic efforts of memory or attempts to impress others.

A:The above answer makes perfect sense. However, if you are trying to memorize the titles only, the question would also make more sense. Separate the Old and the New Testaments books. Then separate each Testament into 3 groups; Historical, poetic/letters , and prophetic. To help memorize the poetic books of the Old Testament, for example, list them all in order and high light the 1st initial

Song of Solomon

Then focus on trying to remember the acronym JPPES and see if this helps. Try this until you have learned each group one at a time.
