Who founded Grooverville Georgia...Itb wasGrooverville both before and after it may have been called Key. Key was the name of the Post Office at Grooverville. It is today called Grooverville.?

Grooverville used to be know as Key. It was a crossroads. It was not founded by anyone. It was incorporated in 1859, in 1995 the charter was terminated by the Georgia Legislature. It is now known as Grooverville Historical Township. Strange how little those of us that are natives of the old place Groovrville know. Grooverville was called Grooverville at least as early as 1839 since it appears on a map of that year. The post office later established at Grooverville was called Key, and Key appears on some maps. During the same time other maps show Gooverville. My g-father, born there ih 1854, said that he thought it was always called Grooverville even thoughj the mail came to Key. The post office closed and moved to Dixie since G'ville had missed a chance to grow by being several miles from the new rail line. Today I know of no one there who says they live in any place but Grooverville.
