A Baseball infield is 90ft on a side. Thus the square feet of the infield is 90 x 90 = 8100 square feet. The square feet of the entire playing field, infield and outfield, varies. Every baseball field has slightly different dimensions. So any answer for the square feet of a baseball field would have to be an average of all baseball fields surveyed.

The size of baseball parks vary greatly. Some fences are under 300 feet while some outfield fences are over 400 feet. Therefore, figuring the square footage of a Major League Baseball outfield would depend on the individual baseball field.

It is 60 feet from home to first on a softball field. It is the same distance between all the bases. The pitcher's mound is 40 to 43 feet way depending on the level of competition. The depth of the outfield varies from field to field.

Baseball fields vary in size from a small little league fields to larger professional base ball fields. the size of the infield (area between the bases) is 3600 sq. feet (60 ft baseline) for little league fields and 8100 sq. feet (90 ft. baseline) for larger fields. The outfields however can vary from under 60,000 square feet (wall at 300 ft) to over 130,000 square feet (wall at 400 feet or more). These do not include "out of bounds" areas which also add to the size of the field.

The diamond itself is a square , 90 feet by 90 feet. so has 8100 square feet of area.

Besides the diamond, there is the outfield and more room in foul territory, behind home plate and each side of the foul lines. These dimensions vary, even in the case of professional fields- there is no fixed area for a baseball field.

A major baseball field will average 2000 square feet. A school field will usually be smaller. A school field may average a few hundred square feet.

It varies because no two fields are the same size...
