Probability is the likelihood something will happen as opposed to another factor. If you were to toss a coin, the probability of it landing on heads is 1/2. If you toss it again, the probability of getting tails is 1/2.

Sometimes one result can affect the next one, other times it cannot,

The result affects the next if: You have 3 red marbles and 3 blue. You pull out a blue one and do not replace it. It affects is as it could not be chosen again so the probability of another blue goes down 1, as well as the mail number.

It would not if: You do the same as above, but DO replace the removed marble. This is because it can be chosen again, and the Probability and the overall amount stays the same.

Should the numbers for the experimental probability be close to the theoretical probability?

Not necessarily. There may not even be a way to work out a theoretical probability. Furthermore, there is always a chance, however small, that the experimental probability is way off.

When you drive to work the probability that you are stopped at traffic lights is 0.65 What is the probability that you can drive straight through?

0.35.

What it the probability of meeting a female between the ages of 0 and 5?

I work with an infant school including a nursery and so the probability is 1.

How do you work out probability?

The probability of a result you want is (the total number of results that would satisfy you) divided by (the total number of all possible results).

What is a space diagram in maths probability?

A space diagram is commonly used in mathematics. It is a table which represents a range of work to mostly do with probability! Hope it helps

Example of how probability is used in everyday life?

Jake’s drive to work includes 2 sets of traffic lights. The probability that he has to stop at the first set is 0.3. The probability that he is stopped at the second set is 0.4. What is the probability that he is only stopped at one set of lights?

0.46

What is the probability that a person from a survey relaxes after work?

The answer will depend on the population which is being studied.

Probability that an event will not occur?

To find the probability that an event will not occur, you work out the probability that it will occur, and then take this number away from 1. For example, the probability of not rolling two 6s in a row can be worked out the following way:The probability of rolling two 6s in a row is 1/6 x 1/6 = 1/36Thus the probability of not rolling two 6s in a row is 1 - 1/36=35/36.

In a family of 5 what is the probability that you will have 3 girls (please show your work)?

The probability of a female is approx 0.4831 across the world. If you assume (rather dubious) that the genders of children in a family are independent then the probability is approx 0.3012In a family of 5, the probability of 3 girls and 2 boys is5C3*(0.4831)3*(0.5169)2 = 0.3012
