I am class president of my class, and I have always wondered the same thing until last year, when people started electing me. As class president, I do things that are very important. When our teachers have to represent the work we do, the class president has to put 10x more effort into it, because theirs goes to the schoolboard. And also, most class Presidents have to explain things when other students don't understand/or the teacher can't get to.(:
The class president is suppose to run the student council meetings with the help of a teacher advisor and be an outstanding student for the other students.
