Bioinformatics is the application of information technology to the field of molecular Biology.

The discipline has grown rapidly due to the application of probability theory to the study of genetics. A common application is the statistical similarities or differences among DNA samples, from animals (including humans) or plants.

From the study of similarities, evolutionary models (or trees) relationships can be inferred. This is the area of phylogenetics.

Per Wikipedia link:

Over the past few decades rapid developments in genomic and other molecular research technologies and developments in information technologies have combined to produce a tremendous amount of information related to molecular biology.

What is the role of statistical method in microbiology?

The role of statistics is enormous in microbiology. I believe every school would require at least one or more courses in "biostatistics", which is the general application of statistical methodology, including planning experiments, drawing inferences, assessing correlations or dependencies with data. From wikipedia on biostatistics (see related link) The science of biostatistics encompasses the design of biological experiments, especially in medicine and agriculture; the collection, summarization, and analysis of data from those experiments; and the interpretation of, and inference from, the results. There is a related field, bioinformatics, which is studied as part of molecular biology, and genetics. This field uses more the probability theory in analyzing genetic code. One of the uses of bioinformatics is attempting to reconstruct the biological evolution in plants and animals. See related link on bioinformatics.

What is the difference between a statistical and a non- statistical question?

a statistical is a question that has a variety of answers, but a non-statistical question has only one answer. like if i say "how old am i?" that is a non-statistical question because there is only one answer. But if I say "How old are the 6th and 7th grade students in school?" that is a statistical question because there will be various answers.
