well if by between 8 and 8 you mean 8+8 then divide it by two to get......8.

- Yep, you are absolutely right!! if there were 3 numbers in a data set then u would have to cross keep crossing out numbers from each side until you get a remainder of only one number. In some cases you will not get ONLY one number. So, you would have to:

1) Add 8 + 8
2) You get 16. So divide 16 by two because there are only two numbers in the set.
3) You get 8.
4) The median of 8 and 8 is 8!

How do you work out the median of 53 55 61 61 76 98 105 120?

You put the numbers in order. As there are 8 numbers, and even amount, the median is halfway between the two middle numbers. In this case, that is 61 and 76. The median is therefore 68.5 as it is halfway between them, or the result if you add them and divide by 2.

What is the median of the following list of numbers 4 5 7 9 10 12?

To find the median of the numbers 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, and 12, you have to list the numbers from least to greatest and then find the middle number. So if you count them out or cross 1 number from each side, (4-12, 5-10) you're left with 7-9 as middle numbers / center numbers. Because the middle numberS is 7 and 9, you have to find what's between it to find the median. And we all know between 7 and 9, there is 8. So 8 is your median.

If you get more than one median what do you do?

There is only one median in a set of values. If it is an odd amount of values, the median is the middle number. If there is an even amount of numbers, the median is the value halfway between the two middle numbers. So, in 1, 2, 3; the median is 2. In 1, 2, 3, 4; the median is 2.5, as that is halfway between 2 and 3.
