There has to be pressure and some sort of friction or limit to the touch of the object you are touching. The math behind it is basically pressure, friction, and if you have an IPhone, sometimes gravity because when you turn the phone sideways, it will turn the screen sideways. Without those, you wouldn't have any math behind touch screen technology, and later resulting in the never inventing of touchscreen technology.
