Produced by the Heide Candy Company prior to 1920, Jujubes and Jujyfruits really had nothing to do with the actual fruit grown in the tropics. The shape first was decided by the mould available at the time which was round and pebbled on the bottom for easy release once formed. One ingredient was juju Gum, hence the name JuJubes. Jujyfruit was a secondary product produced in moulds designed to look like small pieces of fruit.
