Archimedes got the reputation of saying outlandish things. He then staged a performance for the king and his court where he pulled a trireme up onto the beach all by himself using a system of pulleys. A law was then passed that anything Archimedes said was to be considered true. When the Romans were conquering Sicily they put together a special troop who's task was to capture Archimedes alive. Alas he was killed by a soldier from another troop who didn't know who the old man was. Archimedes' last words were 'Don't disturb my circles.'
