Franz Ferdinand was the Archduke of Austro(Austiran)-Hungary. He wasn't very popular with the citizens of the country because it was obvious that he would make big changes when he became emperor. CHanges that were not wanted in Austro-Hungary. On the 28th of June 1914 he went to visit Sarajevo and was killed by a man in the Black Hand called Gavrilo Princip. Franz Ferdinand was shot int the neck and his wife, Sophie- who was pregnant at the time- shot in the stomach. By the time the police and ambulance arrived, thay had already died.
