If the number you are rounding is followed by 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, round the number up.

If the number you are rounding is followed by 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, round the number down.

To avoid common rounding errors, look only at the number in the place you are rounding to and the number that follows it.

So in this case we do NOT round the 4 to a 5 and the round .5 to .6.

However, if you were asked to round to the nearest hundred, then 0.55 is the answer.

Then, if you had to round 0.55 to the nearest ten, it would be .6.

However, the original number rounds to .5 and not .6 when rounding to the nearest ten.

This may be a bit pedantic but rounded to the nearest TEN, the value is 0. The above answer is correct for rounding to the nearest TENTH.
