Set it up and solve:

10x² - 64 = 36 + 6x² (then separate like terms)
10x² - 6x² = 36 + 64 (then simplify)
4x² = 100 (then divide by 4 to solve for x²)
x² = 25 (now solve for the square root of 25)
x = 5 (solution)

NOTE

There is another solution: x = -5

When you take square roots, ALWAYS remember to include the possibility that the solution is the negative root.
