What are quantitative measurements?

Quantitative measurements are those which involve the collection of numbers. It is the opposite of qualitative data which are observations. For example, if you were interested in looking at height. Quantitative measurements would be taking an accurate measurement of everyone. Qualitative data would be looking at the person and putting them into a category of 'tall,' 'medium,' 'short.'

What are the differences between quantitative and qualitative techinque?

Quantitative means that it is concerned with how much. Qualitative means that it is only concerned with the kind. And example of quantitative would be the number of trees in a park, and an example of qualitative would be whether you have blue eyes or brown eyes.

What are the example of quantitative and qualitative?

Quantitative is quantity, like how many there is. like the number of peanuts. qualitative is quality, like how much something is worth. like the platinum watch.

Difference between qualitative and quantitative?

Qualitative and quantitative data are both 2 important types of data. Qualitative data is data based on observation and description. An easy way to remember this, Qualitative ---> QUALity. Examples of qualitative data are when you record colors, smells, textures, etc... Quantitative data is based on numerical values. An easy way to remember this, Quantitative ---> QUANTity. An example of quantitative data are any type of numerical values.

What are the example of the qualitative?

Qualitative descriptions are generally adjectives like 'cool' or 'hot' whereas quantitative descriptions are values like '35 degrees celsius'.

Is bubbly an example of a qualitative or a quantitative observation?

Qualitative observations are those that cannot be measured mathematically or assigned a value. For example, "the sky is blue," is a qualitative observation, it has no mathematical value associated with it. Quantitative observations are those that have a mathematical value. For example, "this desk is 1 meter long" is a quantitative observation. Therefore, noting that something is bubbling is an example of a qualitative observation.

What is the main difference between qualitative and quantitative?

A qualitative observation has to do with things you can't count, "The fish has black scales" is a qualitative observation. A quantitative observation has to do with things you can count, "The fish has 125 scales" is a quantitative observation. You can combine these two, an example would be "The fish has 125 black scales."

What is the definition of qualitative knowledge?

There are basically two kinds of observations that scientists make, which are described as qualitative and quantitative. A qualitative observation gives you a general description. For example, a particular substance might be observed to be a liquid, blue in color, in a bottle. Quantitative observation involves measurement. For the same substance you might discover that it weighs 1.098 kg, that it has a temperature of 23o C, and by pouring it into a graduated cylinder, you could determine that it has a volume of 1.3 liters, etc. Qualitative observations don't involve numbers, and quantitative observations do.

What are kinds of observation?

There are two types of observation. There is what is referred to as the qualitative observation and what is referred to as quantitative observation. Qualitative observations do not deal with numbers, but rather details of an experiment per se. An example would be how a precipitate looks that was formed from a reaction. Quantitative observations deal with numbers; an example would be the amount of a substance (in grams) formed from a completed reaction.

Give 5 examples of qualitative and quantitative observations?

EXAMPLE: Painting Qualitative: Blue Paint, Gold Frame, Smells Musty, Texture Shows Oils were Used, Scene of boats on a river Quantitative: Cost is $300, Weighs 8.9 lbs, Painting is 10" by 14", Frame is 14" by 18", Surface Area is 140 Sq. In. (Qualitative deals with descriptions and can be observed but not measured. Quality. Quantitative deals with numbers and can be measured. Quantity.)

What are the differences between quantitative and qualitative techinque?

Quantitative means that it is concerned with how much. Qualitative means that it is only concerned with the kind. And example of quantitative would be the number of trees in a park, and an example of qualitative would be whether you have blue eyes or brown eyes.

What is the difference between quantitative and qualitative observations?

Qualitative refers to what a sample is, while quantitative refers to how much of that material is present. For example, the "squeaky pop test," which involves taking a burning splint and immersing it in a test tube, is a qualitative test. If the gas in the test tube pops, you know you have hydrogen production. In this case, no numbers are being taken - it is only to identify the gas in the test tube. Say you capture the gas released by whatever reaction takes place in the test tube. Measuring the volume of the gas would be the quantitative observation.

What is the meaning of quantitative variables?

They are variables that can take quantitative - as opposed to qualitative values. For example, the colour of peoples' eyes is a qualitative variable, but their age or shoe size are quantitative variables.

What is the difference between qualitative observation and quantitative observations?

A qualitative observation is an observation of what something is, such as, I saw a pig, I saw sunlight, I saw a plane flying by, I saw a green fluid, etc. A quantitative observation is a numerical measurement of something, such as, I have 7.9 grams of sugar, the current air temperature is 13o C, the car is traveling at 52 kph, etc.

What is an example of a qualitative sentence?

1. Qualitative: this girl is tall. 2. Quantitative: this girl has 1,75 m.
