Normally in geometry, the adjective "regular" applied to a polygon, such as a quadrilateral, means that all the sides are equal. By this definition, the only regular shape for a quadrilateral is a square. However, there can be an infinite number of squares of different sizes!

How many sides do 4 quadrilaterals have?

A quadrilateral has four sides, and so four quadrilaterals will have a total of 16 sides counted separately.

Do polygons fall in the same category as quadrilaterals?

polygons dont necessarily mean quadrilaterals. quadrilaterals are shapes with 4 sides whereas polygons can have 3 or more sides. so, a quadrilateral is a polygon, but having a polygon doesnt mean you have a quadrilateral.

How many sides do 2 dodecagons and 4 quadrilaterals have altogether?

A dodecagon has 12 sides, and a quadrilateral has 4. So in 2 dodecagons and 4 quadrilaterals there are 2*12 + 4*4 = 24 + 16 = 40 sides altogether.

Are any quadrilateral regular polygons?

It depends - Quadrilaterals such as Squares are regular. Others, like the rectangle or other 'wierd' or irregular shapes aern't... Since regular polygons have, by definition, congruent sides and congruent angles, the only quadrilaterals that would be regular are squares. Rectangles have 4 congruent angles, but their sides are not all congruent, so it wouldn't count. Similarly, the only regular triangles would be equilateral triangles, since they are the only ones with all sides and all angles congruent.

Why must concave quadrilaterals be irregular?

A regular polygon has all its angles of equal measure, and its sides of equal length. In the case of a quadrilateral, that would mean a square. A concave quadrilateral must have at least one reflex angle and so cannot be a square. So it cannot be regular.

What bare the examples of quadrilaterals?

Quadrilaterals are 4 sided flat figures, so there are Quadrilaterals Rhombuses Squares Diamonds Rectangles Parallelagrams and Trapazoids. Try saying that 10 times fast!

Do all 4 sided polygons are quadrilaterals?

im not sure what u were asking, but quadrilaterals are the classification for 4-sided polygons, so yeah, all 4-sided polygons are quadrilaterals.

How many diagonals do quadrilaterals have?

Quadrilaterals have four sides so the only possible answer to this question is that a quadrilateral only has two diagonals.

Why are all squares quadrilaterals?

because they have four sides, which is the definition of quadrilateral

What is the area of a regular nonagon with a side length of 9 and an apothem of 16?

A regular nonagon with a side length of 9 has an apothem of 12.4 not 16. So the question is inconsistent.

Why do shapes tessellate?

Shapes tessellate to fit around an interior angle. They also tessellate because they are regular polygons; non-regular polygons cannot tessellate. * * * * * Not correct. All triangles and quadrilaterals will tessellate, whether regular or irregular. Contrary to the above answer, a regular pentagon will not tessellate but there are 14 different irregular pentagons which will tessellate (the last was discovered in 2015). Three convex hexagons will do so as well. No polygon of 7 or more sides will tessellate - whether they are regular (contrary to the above answer) or irregular.

Is a Polygon a quadrilateral always sometimes or never?

A polygon is a closed figure with 3 or more sides/angles, and the lines must always be straight. A circle isn't a polygon. Quadrilaterals are always polygons but polygons are not always quadrilaterals. So the answer is "sometimes."
