Let the equation of the line be y = mx + c

The slope is 5 so m = 5

ie y = 5x + c

The point (3,2) is on the line so substitute x = 3, y = 2 in this equation to give:

2 = 5*3 + c

or

2=15+c

Then subtract 15 off both sides as to calculate c.

2-15=-13

so that c = -13

Therefore the equation is y = 5x - 13
