No, complementary angles need to ADD and EQUAL 90 degrees. Supplementary angles need to ADD/EQUAL 180 degrees. They do not necessarily need to be adjacent to each other, they only have to add up... Complementary = 90, Supplementary = 180

Why do complementary or supplementary angles not have to be adjacent?

complementary angles measures add to 90 and supplementary angles measures add to 180. Whether they are next to each other or not does not matter.

Are the two acute angles in a right triangle supplementary?

No, they are complementary angles. Supplementary angles sum to 180o Complementary angles sum to 90o. The three angles of a triangle sum to 180o. If one is 90o (the right angle), then the other two sum to 180o - 90o = 90o and so are complementary.

Are complementary angles consecutive angles in a parallelogram?

The question does not really make sense. Once might ask, "Are consecutive angles in a parallelogram complementary?" in which case the answer is no. Complementary angles are angles which add up to 90 degrees. Consecutive angles are angles next to each other (or follow each other). In a parallelogram, consecutive angles are supplementary (add to 180 degrees). In a parallelogram, opposite angles are equal. You could have a parallelogram where two angles are 45 degree (and thus complementary) and then the other two angles would be 135 degrees.

What is the complementary angle of 140 degrees?

No angle can be complementary to a 140 degree angle, as the sum of complementary angles is 90 degrees. But angles which are supplementary to each other add together to form a 180 degree angle.

Angles that add up to 180 degrees are called what?

Supplementary angles add up to 180, complementary on the other hand add up to 90.

Is a triangle supplementary or complementary?

In a right angled triangle, the two non-right angles are complementary, because in a triangle the three angles add to 180°, and 90° has already been taken by the right angle. When two angles add to 90°, we say they "Complement" each other.

What is one of a pair of angle that add up to 180 degrees?

If 2 angles add up to 180 degrees, they're called supplementary angles and one of the pair is said to be the supplementary angle for the other. Similarly, for 90 degrees, the term used is complementary.

Can I see some Example of supplementary and complementary angles?

Supplementary angles are two angles that add up to 180 degrees. Complimentary angles are two angles add up to 90 degrees. Kinda hard here to graph the angles, but: (1) Draw a 90 degree angle: The angle of any line drawn for the apex is a complemetary angle to the other. (2) Draw a straight line (180 deg): The angle of any line that meets the straight line is a supplementary angle to the other.

What kind of angles have a sum of 180 degrees?

its supplementary because they add up to 180 think of it this way what is a high supplement dose 180 what has to complement each-other 90 so supplementary angles add up to 180 degrees while complementary adds up to 90 degrees

How do you use the word complementary in a sentence?

The two angles were complementary to each other.

Can two angles of a right triangle be complementary?

The two angles, other than the right angle itself, MUST be complementary.

What two angles are congruent and supplementary to each other?

supplementary angles are equal to 180 degrees. so two congruent(same) angles would be 90 degrees!
