No because the range , median, and mode are all diffrent things to find the range subtract the largest and smallest number in the list , to find the median list the numbers in order then cross them out with pairs at the end and beginning of the list, and to find the MODE you just look at the number that appears there MOST times. O.K.

How do you find the range when your median is 20?

There is no direct relationship between the range and the median. So knowing that your median is 20 does not automatically give you the range. The median is just the middle value. That does not tell you what the first and last values are, which is what you need to know to find the range. The median of 19, 20 and 21 is 20, and the range is 2. The median of 4, 20 and 79 is also 20, but the range is 75. The median of 8, 16, 17, 23, 50 and 320 is also 20, but the range is 312. So, as you can see, the Median in no way can tell you what the range will be. You need to know what all of the numbers are, or at least the lowest and highest to know the range.

How do you solve the average of a group of numbers?

You add all the numbers up and then divide by the amount of numbers there are. e.g 2+4+6= 12, there are 3 numbers (2,4,6) therefore you divide 12 by 3, and you have 4, therefore 12 is the mean. The mode is the most common number, so if you have 3,3,4,5,5,5,5,6 and you need to find the mode, the mode is 5. The median is the middle number, so if you have 1,6,9,114,300 then 9 is the median as it is right in the middle.

These are Melissa's test scores for the last 4 tests eighty eighty-eight niney-four niney-eight. If Melissa scores 85 on the next test what happens to the range the median the mode and the mean?

To start with we need to find what the current range median mode and mean is for the first 4 results: 80, 88, 94, 98 Current range = 98-80 =18 current median = (88+94)/2 =91 Current mode= there is not one most frequent score so they're all the mode Current mean=(80+88+94+98)/4 =90 When we add the additional score of 85 We have 80,85,88,94,98 Range doesn't change (highest score and lowest score is still the same) Median (middle score) is now 88. This has decreased from before Mode: There is still no one most frequent score as no exam mark occurs twice Mean = (80+85+88+94+98)/5 = 89 This has also decreased. Hope this helps

What five numbers have a range of a mean of 6 a mode of 3 and a median of 5?

Before I start, you didn't put the range, so I can't completely find the answer. If you can give me the range, I can edit this to make it 100% correct The Median is the "Middle number", so we know that the middle number is 5 ab5cd The mode is the number that is repeated most often, and since it is 3, we know that there has to be two 3s, in order to have more 3s than 5s. (We can't have more or else 5 would be the median) 335cd the mode is the average of all of the numbers (3+3+5+c+d)/5=6 now we just need to do simple math to find C and D 11+c+d=30 C+D=19 The Range is the biggest number minus the smallest number (D-3) If you know the range, you can calculate D, and then find C using C+D=19

How are median and mode the different?

The median is kind of like the middle number. When you have a set of number you need to sort them from least to greatest, then look for you number that is in the exact middle of them all, that number is your median, if there isn't a number in the exact middle you would add your two middle numbers together, then divide by two and that is your median. The mode is the number that occurs most, so when you sort your data from least to greatest lets say you have one 13, three 14's, and eight 15's your mode would be 15 seeing as that is the number that occurs the most.

Write a C plus plus to find median and mode of a number?

The median and mode of any number is the same number. The mode of 5 is 5, as is the median of 5. In other words, you need two or more numbers to determine the median and mode of those numbers.

A student receives these marks on 7 math tests 91 75 95 80 83 86 68 What mark will the student need on the 8 test to make each statement true The mean is 84 the mode is 86 the median is 84?

To make the mean true, the student will need to get 94. To make the mode true, the student will need to get 86. To make the median true, the student will need to get 85. As we can see, the three numbers are not the same number. It is impossible the make the three statements true.

How do you find a set of numbers if you have the range mean and median?

In general, you cannot. You need to know how many numbers there are and then, in only a select few cases can you find the set.

What is a list of data with the following landmarks mode 21 median 24 maximum 35 range 20 use at least 7 numbers?

There is no such data set for 7 numbers. With the maximum at 35 and the range 20, the mode (average) will always be more than 21, even with the lowest numbers possible. e.g. 15 15 15 24 24 24 35 sums to 152, which is 5 higher than the necessary 147 (21 x 7) So you need at least 11 numbers such as 15 15 15 15 15 24 24 24 24 25 35, keeping 24 as the median and the average 21 (231/11).

What does mode mean median mean?

Mode: "most"- The number that occurs the most. There isn't always a mode. Example: 1, 2, 2, 6,2,5,6, 7,6,4,9,5,8,2 The number 2 is the mode because it occurs most frequently. The mode need not be a number, you can have a mode with qualitative data. RED RED BLUE GREEN. The mode is RED. Mean: This is the arithmetic average. If there are n numbers, you add them up and divide by n, this is the mean. For example if n=3, there are 3 numbers. Let's say they are 1, 2, and 3. Add them up and you have 6, divide by 3 and the mean is 2. Median: If the numbers are placed in ascending order, this is the number in the middle if you have an odd number of numbers (entries). If you have an even number of numbers, the median is the mean of the two middle numbers. For example, 1 2, 3, the median is 2. Now look at 1, 2, 3, 4. The median is the average of 2 and 3 which is 2.5 even though this is not one of the numbers in the set. There is some controversy over this and some people do it differently, but this method is most commonly used. It is also the one used by the TI 83 calculator.

Can there be more than one median to a number?

No and a single number cannot have a median either you need a series (at least two) to have a median.
