It's not solvable:
Proof that it's not solvable: 2 simultaneous equations - let F =father and S=son
F = 4S (father is 4 times son's age) and F-5=7S (father minus 5 years equals 7 times son's age).
Combining both gives 4S=7S+5 which is 3S=-5. Clearly you cannot have a negative age, which makes the question nonsensical.
