f(x) = x3 + 10x2 + ax + b

(x-1) is a factor so f(1) = 0 ie 1 + 10 + a + b = 0

(x-2) is a factor so f(2) = 0 ie 8 + 40 + 2a + b = 0

Solve these two simultaneous equations:

Sutracting the first from the second:

37 + a = 0 so that a = -37

and then b = 26
