easy!

5x+4y=18, and 2x+y=6, and we know that the long side is 3 times longer than the short side (6 times 3 is 18), so

3(2x+y)=5x+4y

so, 6x+3y=5x+4y

so, x+3y=4y

so, x=y

so, we now know that x=y.

you then change the first equation to:

5x + 4x = 18 (because both long sides of a rectangle are equal)

so, 9x = 18, and x=2. And that means y also = 2.

How does increasing the dimensions of a rectangle impact the perimeter?

If you increase the rectangle's length by a value, its perimeter increases by twice that value. If you increase the rectangle's width by a value, its perimeter increases by twice that value. (A rectangle is defined by its length and width, and opposite sides of a rectangle are the same length. The lines always meet at their endpoints at 90° angles.)

Can the perimeter of a rectangle be any integer value?

Possibly. The perimeter of a rectangle is the distance around the outside of the rectangle. A rectangle has four sides with opposite sides being congruent. The formula for finding the perimeter is Side A + Side B + Side A + Side B-Devon

What value if x gives a perimeter of 15 in a rectangle?

Assuming x is one of the sides of he rectangle, any value greater than zero and less than 71/2.

What is the truth value of a statement a square has 4 congruent sides and a rectangle has 4 parallel sides?

It is false. The first part about the square is true, but the second part is false. A rectangle has two pairs of parallel sides. The "and' means that both parts must be true for the statement to be true. A convex polygon can have many pairs of parallel sides, but you can never have 3 or more sides all parallel to each other.

How do you find the area of a rectangle that is 5in on all sides?

This would be a square, not a rectangle. In either case to get square value just multiply length times width.

What would happen to the perimeter if the side lengths of a rectangle are halved?

The perimeter of a rectangle is just the sum of the lengths of its sides, so taking half of each of the sides would make the total half of its original value also.

For a rectangle with a perimeter 72 to have the largest area what dimensions should it have Enter the smaller value first?

Since the largest area would be obtained by having adjacent sides equal to each other, and since a square is at least technically an equilateral rectangle, divide the perimeter of 72 by 4 to get sides of 18 and an area of 324.

How do you get the experimental value of a rectangle?

A rectangle has no value - experimental or otherwise. Its area has a value, its perimeter, its aspect have values.

If the width of the rectangle is 3 inches what is the area?

What is the length of the rectangle? If you had said one of the sides of a square was 3 inches, you could multiply 3 inches by 3 inches to get the value in square inches.Area = 3l square inches, where l = length of the rectangle in inches.

How do you fine the length in a similar rectangles?

If you are given two similar rectangles, one with all measurements and the other with only one, you first need to find the conversion ratio. Let's call the rectangle that you know everything about, rectangle A, and the other rectangle B. You take the ratio of the side of rectangle B to rectangle A. You then multiply the length of rectangle A by this value, to find the length of rectangle B.

A rectangle has width represented by x and length represented by 4x If the area of the rectangle is 80 find the value of x What is x?

length is 4x and width is x: 4x*x = 80 4x2 = 80 Divide both sides by 4: x2 = 20 Square root both sides: x = 4.472135955

What is the area of a rectangle if the perimeter of the rectangle is 96 cm?

Any number less than 576 cm2. A square, with sides of 24 cm will have a perimeter of 96 cm and an area of 576 cm2. Suppose the sides of the rectangle are 24+x cm and 24-x cm, where 0<x<24. Then the perimeter will be 96 cm while the area will be (24+x)*(24-x) = 576 - x2 cm2 The area can have any value in the range (0, 576) depending on the value of x.
