How come Pi never ends?

Because if it did I would starve to death! OOOPS wrong Pi.

The answer is because Pi is what is known as an irrational number.

That is a number than cannot be written as a ratio or a fraction.

If Pi ended, then we could write it as a ratio or fraction and it would be rational.

This was proved along time ago, around 1700's even though people as far back at the 9th century believed it was true.

It is also a transcendental number which means it is not the solution to any non-constant polynomial equation with rational coefficients.
