multiply each denominator by the other like 22/35 and 43/60

22/35 * 60 and 43/60 * 35

= 1320/2100 + 1505/2100

= 2825/2100

What is the difference between dissimilar fraction and proper fraction?

A proper fraction is one fraction in which the numerator is smaller than the denominator. Dissimilar fractions are two or more fractions whose denominators are different (dissimilar).

How do you compare improper fractions with larger numerators than denominators?

The same way as proper fractions. Make sure the denominators are the same. If they're not, convert them to equivalent fractions with similar denominators. Then you can see which numerator is greater.

Do you need common denominators when subtracting fractions?

Yes. You need common denominators if you want to:Add fractionsSubtract fractionsCompare fractions ("which is larger?")You do not need common denominators to multiply or divide fractions. Thus, in the case of fractions, multiplication and division is actually easier than addition and subtraction.

Why is it easier to compare fractions with the same rather than denominator?

If the fractions have different denominators, you need to: 1) Convert to equivalent fractions with a common denominator, 2) Compare the numerators. If the fractions already have the same denominator, there is no need for the first step - which happens to be the most difficult step. Note that as a shortcut, you don't need the LEAST common denominator, any denominator can do. Thus, you can just use the product of the two denominators as the common denominator. As a result, to compare the fractions, you simply multiply the numerator of each fraction by the denominator of the other one, and then compare. However, this is still more work than simply comparing two numbers.

What are fifteen facts or more about fractions?

You're only supposed to ask one question at at time but here we go:- 1 Fractions are parts of whole numbers or integers 2 Fractions less than 1 are common fractions 3 Fractions greater than 1 are improper fractions 4 Fractions have denominators which are underneath their numerators 5 Fractions are separated by a solidus line such as n/d 6 Fractions that are improper can be changed into mixed numbers 7 Fractions can be changed into decimals 8 Fractions can be converted into percentages 9 Fractions are rational numbers 10 Fractions can not be derived from irrational numbers 11 Fractions need a LCD when adding or subtracting them 12 Fractions can be easily multiplied and divided 13 Fractions can be equivalent such as 2/3 = 4/6 14 Fractions can be simplified by finding their HCF 15 Fractions use prime numbers to find the LCM of different denominators 16 Fractions were once used by the ancient Romans to a limited extent

What are the characteristics of improper fractions?

Improper fractions have numerators that are greater than or equal to their denominators.

Why is reciprocal of a fraction less than 1 is always greater than 1?

Proper fractions are less than one.. Their numerators re less than their denominators. Their reciprocals have numerators greater than their denominators, making them improper. Improper fractions are greater than 1.

What are 2 fractions with like denominators whose sum is greater than 1?

1/2 + 3/2 my ass/bumbums

How does converting fractions apply in your daily lives?

I sometimes convert fractions to different fractions when I change recipes to make more or less than is specified in the original recipe. I also convert fractions when woodworking.

Can the sum be greater than 1 when two different fractions with the same denominators are both less than 1?

Yes. 3/5 + 4/5 = 7/5 which is greater than 1 and both 3/5 and 4/5 are smaller than 1.

Is the least common denominator of two fractions is always greater than the denominators of the fractions?

No. Sometimes it is the same as one of them. If you are allowed to simplify the fractions first, you might even get a smaller number, but I'm not sure what your math teacher is going for in your case.

How do you determine what fraction is greater than the other?

Find the least common denominator and convert them to equivalent fractions so that the denominators are the same. Choose the one with the greatest denominator.
